Dear Parents and Juniors
The days are getting longer, the weather is getting warmer and lockdown will be eased in March (I’m being as optimistic as I can) so that means we can start planning for the cricket season.
Hopefully you will all have seen Peter’s email with news about the clubhouse and the exciting plans for our junior cricket this year. The main points to take away are; we’re going to have a great new terrace on the clubhouse to watch the kids play cricket from and that Chris Marrow, through his Cricket School of Excellence, will take over the running of our junior training. This also means we’ve decided to move the coaching sessions for our youngest players and girl’s teams to a Friday night – a great excuse to spend summer evenings watching cricket over a glass of something cold.
We’re hoping and planning for a return to a normal season this year, we’ll update nearer the time if we have to make adjustments due to Covid restrictions, but for the moment we’re expecting to start coaching from Friday 16th April with a full programme of league and cup matches starting shortly afterwards.
So that means it’s time to register for the season – as it worked so well for the small groups last summer you can register here. Membership prices remain the same as last season and there are discounts for siblings and members of the tennis club. If you have 1 child registered in the tennis club (u9s upwards) please use discount code: AXV423 if you have 2 children in the tennis club please use: TPV262 when you check-out.

A couple of other updates:
Fundraising – following the amazing success of the fundraising efforts from some of our members last year, the club have been able to fully replace the outfield over the winter. Now it’s the junior section’s turn. Steve Rimmer & Rob Catherall have some great plans for a sponsored run (following the template from last years’ efforts) with the ambition of raising enough money to upgrade some of our training facilities. More details to follow very soon.
Kit – we’re working on finding a kit supplier to source training / T20 style tops for our junior players to wear at training and when playing club matches. We’ll share details shortly.
Hopefully I’ll get to meet some of you at the club very soon
