An update on our previous email (below) which I hope you all received.
I am delighted to report we have secured the services of Jono Chapman for this season. He is 26 years old and comes from Tasmania. He is a quick bowler who can also bat. As with all previous overseas players, he will play for the First Team this summer AND assist and immerse himself in the Junior Section activities and coaching. Jono has played First Grade Club Cricket in Australia and has prior experience of playing club cricket in England. We have been given good reports about this lad - helpful, courteous, reliable and very self sufficient.
He is ready to book his flight (planning to arrive week commencing 20th April) but, needless to say this must be put ‘on hold’ until we can find him somewhere to live in Gerrards Cross or in reasonably close proximity to the ground.
So we are requesting again, if there is anyone who might be able to provide accommodation for Jono, please could we hear from you as soon as possible. Last year two GXCC families kindly put up David Cleary for the summer thereby sharing the load - this worked well and hopefully can be repeated this summer.
We really do need your help and hope you will get in touch with either Peter or myself as soon as possible.

As we edge closer to the start of the Cricket season, we urgently require assistance with accommodation for our overseas player.
We have, for some years, invited players from Australia, New Zealand and South Africa to spend the summer with Gerrards Cross CC playing for the First Team and helping with the junior section. Last year we were lucky to have David Cleary from Perth who was a hugely enthusiastic coach and excellent cricketer who scored 600 league runs. At the moment we are in talks with a couple of Australians in the 22–26 age range and hopefully we will be in a position to confirm one of them in the next couple of weeks.
The plan would be for the overseas player to arrive sometime during the week of the 20th April and to return home soon after the last League game which is on Saturday 5th September.
As you can appreciate, we cannot firm up arrangements without a generous member of the club housing this young man for the season. To allay any concerns, we undertake a great deal of due diligence and overseas players come to us through word of mouth. Without exception these guys are incredibly self sufficient and tend to be out of the house most evenings coaching and playing at weekends. They are courteous, helpful and they are responsible for their own food/cleaning etc.
If you or anyone you know (ideally in close proximity to the club or in the GX, Chalfont area) would be interested, even for half of the season, we would love to hear from you and would be incredibly grateful.
