cricketers and parents,
The club will be hosting a Junior Awards evening at the clubhouse on Friday
30th August starting at 7.00pm where each of the team managers will have the opportunity
to describe the highlights of the season for each team. There will be awards
for Player of the Season and Most Improved Player for all teams, along with the
presentation of medals for the 3 teams who have won their respective leagues,
the Under 10 Bears, Under 11 Tigers and Under 12's.
The bar will be open and we would love to see as many of you as possible for
this regular end of season event as we celebrate the achievements of our young
For those of
you that can’t make it along, or maybe just to make you even more inclined to
come along, here are the brief highlights of the season:
- Played their first Gerrards Cross matches at the Marlow Big Bash and enjoyed themselves,
winning the first two games against Beaconsfield and Marlow. They lost against
Chobham, by just 2 runs, narrowly missing out on the finals. That close finish
set the tone for the U8's and amazingly a friendly against Chalfont St Peter in
July ended in a tied match !
- Have been in the top League in South Bucks up against teams who have been
playing regular cricket in previous years. Many opposition boys have been
playing frequently at school and quite of few of our U9's haven't had this benefit,
but we have seen great strides made over the summer and most importantly they
have remained enthusiastic throughout. Whilst no League matches have been won,
this group reached the final at the Marlow Big Bash Tournament narrowly losing
out to Beaconsfield in a very spirited performance.
- The U10 Dragons have been playing successfully in the South Premier League
finishing second behind a strong Amersham outfit. The U10 Bears were unbeaten
in their 6 league matches winning the Bucks South East Division One. Well done
the Bears !
- The U11 Tigers dominated their age group and were unbeaten through the
season, winning both the South Bucks Premier League and the Bucks Cup, along
with winning the Holmer Green tournament. The U11 Lions Have
been battling away in the South East Division 1 winning against Farnham Common
and narrowly falling short against Knotty Green and Chenies.
U12'S - Winners of the South East
Bucks League winning 5 of their 6 matches, this group are now showing
their true potential on the cricket field.
U13's - A tough season in
the top league in South Bucks. These boys have been playing well against some
very strong sides but just falling short in securing wins.
U14's - Five victories and just
the two defeats saw this group finish second in the South Bucks Premier League.
Girls - We are very pleased to
say that thanks to the commitment of Andy Ross and Aman Kohli, the girls’
section has really taken off this year. A friendly match was arranged with
Beaconsfield and a number of our talented young female cricketers are playing
in the age group teams with the boys and impressing them with their skills and
U5’s to U7’s: We are also really pleased to have launched
our ECB All Stars programme for this season with 28 young cricketers enjoying
themselves on Friday evenings. And many of those and more besides were regular
attendees at our Sunday morning training sessions, many getting their first taste of
I am sure you
will want to join me in thanking Nigel Bruce and his team of coaches at Future
legends, not to forget our overseas cricketers Chris Marrow and David Cleary. Their
enthusiasm and dedication in fair weather, and less fair, has been impressive.

their energy, commitment and enthusiasm these matches would not happen. There
is a considerable amount to organise both prior to fixtures taking place and
during the matches so please, please, any parents who would like to offer their
time to support the club moving forward in 2020, don't be shy in coming forward
Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible on August 30th.
