Junior Cricket Update

23 Jun 2019

Three quarters of the way through the junior season and here's a quick update :
Look a particularly strong bunch this year so we've arranged 2 fixtures and entered them in the Marlow Big Bash. Look out for Rory Hughes, he's a serious cricketer and only U7 !

Chad Atwal has volunteered to manage this group and it's been a baptism of fire for our U9's playing in the South Premier League against sides who have played fixtures last year and are quite "street wise". Yet to win a match after 4 defeats we have seen week on week improvement and the recent fixture against a strong Ballinger side went down to the last over of the game. This group's enthusiasm has not wained and they are eagerly awaiting the Marlow Big Bash at the end of June.

Both the Dragons and the Bears are undefeated in their respective leagues with notable scalps of both Beaconsfield teams in the process.

U11 Tigers
This group continue to dominate the U11 age group in Buckinghamshire. Unbeaten in their 4 league fixtures and through to the semi finals of the U11 Bucks Cup. Grant Hardy, Gerrards Cross' answer to Pep Guardiola can be regularly spotted patrolling his technical area around the whole boundary encouraging his boys, all of whom contribute to the success of this team.

U11 Lions
An agonising narrow defeat at the hands of Chenies in their first match and a defeat against a strong Knotty Green side were swiftly forgotten about with a win against Farnham Common. With a couple of home matches to come and a local derby against Chalfont St Peter, we anticipate more victories.
After 2 years of facing the top sides in the premier league, slipping into South East Division One has seen this group fulfil their potential. Unbeaten after three convincing victories this side have now got the winning feeling and they have an exciting local derby against Chalfont St Peter this Friday night at the club.

Have been blighted by the weather somewhat so far this season. A resounding victory in the 1st round of the cup led to a second round fixture against Great Kingshill where we fell just 10 runs short.

With school commitments, the majority of their fixtures take place in the second half of the season having succumbed to a strong Wendover side a couple of weeks ago.

We are arranging a fixture with Beaconsfield and have entered a side in the Lady Taverners tournament at Chesham Bois on 30th June.

Both David Cleary and Chris Marrow are doing a great job working with the sides on Sundays and Tuesdays, along with umpiring matches when necessary. Jonathan as well is getting the bar open which makes a huge difference on both Sundays and match nights.
