Dear junior cricketers and parents,
The 2018 season is behind us and England are about to start their winter tour in Sri Lanka. I am sure many of you are just starting to get into your football, rugby, hockey and other seasons as the Autumn term gets going.
But before you forget cricket for too long, I want you to get the dates for the winter cricket nets in your diary. All the boys and girls who took part last year had great fun and many found it gave them a flying start to the cricket season when it got going.
Last season, however, we did suffer from rather low numbers for the winter nets so this year, we are keen to advertise the sessions as early as possible and get commitments from the people who are intending to participate promptly.
We are planning to run the sessions on Saturday afternoons between 3.30 and 7.30pm for five weeks in total for a range of age groups from Reception to Year 9 from January 19th to March 30th. We will base our final plans for the winter sessions on the numbers we have by the beginning of November. For details of the provisionally proposed dates, see the attached flyer. For more details on the sessions, feel free to ring Nigel Bruce on the number shown on the flyer.
Last season we actually spent more money on the winter nets (hiring the hall and coaches) than we received in payments so we are keen to avoid that situation this year. So if we find that it's looking that not enough cricketers are scheduled to attend, we may reluctantly need to scale back the sessions or merge the age groups.
Consequently, this year, we are asking you to give a strong commitment before the end of October whether your young cricketer intends to take part.
Please reply as soon as possible to email@example.com and delete the necessary words from the sentence below.
I am definitely interested/ I might be interested/ I am not interested in my young cricketer taking part in the Winter Nets programme.
To encourage people to sign up, we are offering an early bird rate applicable for those paying before the end of October (£60 for years 5 to 9 and girls, £45 for reception and years 1 and 2). From November 1st, the price will rise to £75 and £55 respectively with payment due by the end of the year.
For those who want to play and take advantage of the early bird rate, please send your payment by BACS to the account of Gerrards Cross Cricket Club, sort code 20-02-06, account number 50372471 (please add "WN surname" as the identifier to your payment.
Many thanks and looking forward to your prompt replies.
